Company Limits Bathroom Break to 6 Minutes

Posted July 16th, 2014 @ 1:32pm

Spend more than 6 minutes a day in the restroom at Chicago's WaterSaver Faucet company and you will face disciplinary measures. 19 workers were unfairly disciplined last month in June and complaints were filed.

The company said it had little choice because some employees were spending way too much time in there and not enough on the manufacturing line. CEO, Steve Kersten adopted a rewards system where workers can earn a gift card up to $20 each month ($1 a day) if they do not use the bathroom at all during work time. He said no one has been suspended or terminated, although warnings were issued. The company has a three step disciplinary process starting with a verbal/written warning, followed by suspension, and finally a termination.
