The NFL announced that all players who are on the field when the national anthem is being sung before a game must stand or they can choose to remain in the locker room without penalty.
Teams will be subject to a fine if a player does not comply with this rule, said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a news conference on Wednesday.
