R. Kelly's Hairstylist Speaks Out For the First Time

R. Kelly’s former hairstylist, Lanita Carter, is speaking out for the first time about enduring assault at the hands of R. Kelly in 2003.

She told "CBS This Morning", "I’m not ashamed of my past anymore. I’m not ashamed of what naysayers say.”

Carter was one of the four anonymous accusers in R. Kelly’s February indictment.

She says she was 24-years-old when she was called in to braid R. Kelly’s hair. When she arrived, he asked her to massage his head and then pulled her hair and sexually assaulted her.

Carter says she called police and provided a DNA sample. Ultimately she entered into a $650,000 settlement with R. Kelly.

About finally speaking publicly, Lanita said,“This is a release. I’ve been carrying this since 2003. I don’t want to be in the public, but this is my life. If I die tomorrow, I know that I told the truth.”
