911 Emergency Lines Down Statewide

Was a scary morning after a statewide outage of 911 services occurred.

Update from WXYZ: 911 emergency lines are beginning to be restored following a statewide outage, MSP confirmed early Friday morning. A technical issue occurred during an attempted to update to the 911 system. This problem is affecting multiple counties in Michigan and is being worked on. The counties say that if you have an emergency you should call their non-emergency lines.

Many media outlets are reporting a "State Wide" Outage of 911 services. While there is a significant problem across the State, it is not affecting every 911 center. Macomb County Dispatch reports their system is operational. Ferndale just said they're working and all of Washtenaw County seems to be unaffected.  Eaton, Hillsdale and Kalamazoo are starting to get their systems working again.

Many areas in Oakland County are still OUT including northern communities like Lapeer and Holly.

Recommended you dial 911 first and if it doesn't go through, then call your local police numbers or administration numbers. In most communities, you can still TEXT 911 and it will go through (or bounce back a warning message if it doesn't work in your area).
