Official 8 Mile Anniversary Party

Join Channel 955 at the official party hosted in honor of the 15th anniversary of 8 Mile on Thursday November 9th kicking off at 8pm at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit!

8 MILE opened in movie theaters nationwide in 2002.  In honor of the 15th anniversary, Saint Andrew’s announces that they are hosting the official 8 MILE 15th Anniversary Party on November 9th and is presented by Rightway Auto, Frigo, Pep Boys, Tito’s, Motor City Showgirls, Channel 955, and 97.9 WJLB. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 18th, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Verses Project. The Verses Project is a branch of the Community Music School (CMS) in Detroit which is a program that works together with the Michigan State University School of Music as an innovative approach to engaging urban youth of the 21st century. Students are taught critical literacy skills through the art of songwriting and music production. Lyft is the official transportation sponsor and will be extending a ride discount to all attendees of the after party at Saint Andrew’s that use the code “8MILEPARTY”. This code will provide 25% off a ride (up to $5 off a ride).

Rapper Eminem made his acting debut in 8 MILE as a semi-autobiographical movie that was filmed in Detroit. Along with its critical and box office success, Eminem won an Academy Award® for "Lose Yourself", the first rap/hip-hop song to receive the honor.  Directed by Academy Award® winner, the late Curtis Hanson, 8 MILE also starred Academy Award® winner Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, Omar Benson Miller, Anthony Mackie and the late Brittany Murphy.
