Remember that bottle of Noah Cyrus' tears priced for $12,000? Turns out it was a sham.
The singer unveiled some strange additions to her merch line in collaboration with Pizzaslime via Instagram yesterday to promote the release of her new album, Good Cry, including a vial that contains the 18-year-old's tears "as a result of sadness" over her abrupt split from SoundCloud rapper Lil Xan a couple weeks ago.
According to TMZ, however, Cyrus and her team marketed the tears as a joke but eight customers were actually swindled of their money. Evidently, someone tricked people out of $1,240 with a fake GoFundMe page advertising the product.
The tears received a ton of side-eyes from Cyrus' followers when it was unveiled Thursday (September 20), to which anxious buyers responded with the pressing question — aside from, WHY?! — on everyone's mind: But are they real, though?
"12,000$ for your nasty tears i bit you its water. Your so lame & want attention so bad," one outraged user wrote on Instagram. Another fan just wasn't buying it, literally: "what the f**k is miss noah cyrus doing selling her f**king tears for $12,000 as if anybody is gonna buy that s**t."
As of late, Cyrus' team is currently trying to get the page shut down and will issue a backstage pass to one of her shows as well as reimbursements to those frauded in the scheme.
