9-Year-Old Boy Takes Wrong Turn in 5K Race, Wins 10K Instead

Imagine taking a wrong turn during a race and winning a completely different one instead.

This happened to Minnesota-native Kade Lovell who took a wrong detour during a 5K race. Lovell missed the turn for his 5K route and ended up running the remainder of the 10K route.

Heather Lovell, the accidental winner's mother, describes the race as "An emotional rollercoaster in a 10-minute span."

After accidentally winning the 10K in 40 minutes, Lovell ran a different 5K race. To no surprise, he won that one too.

9-year-old Lovell now practices with a special coach, and he hopes to compete in the Junior Olympics in Wisconsin this year.
