Way back when, Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale were two of Disney Channel's biggest stars. Not only did Ashley star in the High School Music series with Zac, she also starred one of of Disney's biggest sitcoms, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Fans of The Suite Life will remember the time Zac guest starred on the show, playing a love interest for his IRL friend Ashley. The two had to share an on-screen kiss, which was memorable to Ashley for all the wrong reasons.
During an appearance on Elle's 'Thirst Trap' YouTube series, Ashley revealed her Suite Life smooch with Zac was her worst on-screen kiss ever. Don't worry, though. She's not shading Zac at all. The Merry Happy Whatever actress has a pretty understandable reason for her choice. “I’ll tell you why it was the worst, okay? I had to kiss Zac Efron on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and it’s the worst because I am so close to him and he’s like my brother,” she explained.
“At the time, he was used to acting on like, Warner Brothers, which is CW, and we were on Disney Channel,” she continued. “And so he like, he tried kissing me with his tongue, and I was like, get away from me! I closed my mouth so fast.”
“I was like, ‘this is Disney Channel, we don’t kiss like that on Disney Channel!'” she added, noting the difference between the more mature WB network and the younger-skewing Disney Channel. She also added that it was “weird” for her because of their longtime friendship, which began before they even worked on High School Musical together.
“It’s just weird when you’re so close to somebody, and we’d already done the movie, I’d known him for years before,” she said. “That is why it was the worst. It’s just we’re too close.”
The cast of High School Musical has remained close over the years, as well. They frequently appear on each other's social media accounts and occasionally get together for HSM reunions. Maybe Zac will call Ashely out for this answer next time they see each other?
