Today, President Biden signed an Executive Order protecting abortion access and access to Reproductive Health Care.
When the Supreme Court recently decided to overturn Roe v Wade; federal protections for abortion rights were eliminated.
In a press conference today at the White House, Biden said in part "“This is a moment—the moment—the moment to restore the rights that have been taken away from us and the moment to protect our nation from an extremist agenda."
The Executive Order will protect access to medication and make legal representation available to women who choose to travel out of state for the procedure.
President Biden did acknowledge that Congress would need to pass Roe v Wade into law to fully protect abortion rights in the United States.
"The fastest way to restore Roe is to pass a national law," Biden said. ""The challenge is go out and vote. For God’s sake, there is an election in November. Vote. Vote. Vote. Vote!"
