Iconic fitness instructor Richard Simmons passed away on July 13, 2024, after sustaining "blunt traumatic injuries" from a fall that occurred at his Los Angeles home, compounded with the lingering effects of heart disease.
According to Page Six, the star's brother, Lenny Simmons, spoke of Richard's passions during his celebration of life service in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Saturday (October 5), revealing how his burial attire would translate to the afterlife.
"Just like Clark Kent underneath his beautiful things that he was wearing, his clothing, [Richard] is wearing a tank top and shorts."
He continued:
"Why, you ask? Because we think that God has another plan for him, and we want to make sure that he was going to be in his normal costume that we all know and love to help the saints and the angels get into shape. So I'm here to say to you that even though heās not here and I know heās in spirit here tonight, Richard Simmons will forever be sweating with the Holies."
After unveiling that the beloved fitness instructor was fittingly buried in his workout outfit, Lenny thanked everyone in the audience for attending his brother's celebration of life service.
Simmons passed away just one day after his 76th birthday. His death was deemed "accidental" by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office after a toxicology report was completed that confirmed there were no unprescribed drugs in his system at TOD, and that foul play was not of concern.
