Michigan House Votes To Change The Law That Gave A Man A Ticket For Leaving His Car Running In His Driveway

Last winter, Nick Taylor from Roseville's story of being ticketed while leaving his car running in his driveway went viral. Taylor's car was running with the keys inside, which is grounds to be ticketed in Michigan... and he was. He was slapped with a $128 ticket. He recently appealed the ticket, but the decision was upheld.

Now, a new bill passed by the Michigan House of Representatives could make this perfectly legal. The law, intended to stop people from running cars with keys still inside, was designed to protect vehicles from being stolen. Opposition to the law says that this is common practice. If the bill passes, it would go into effect within 90 days... more than enough time for winter in Michigan.

Taylor says he is going to appeal the recent ruling on his ticket.
