In 4th grader, Torrin learned about kids with cancer at school and he wanted to help out by giving his hair.
He spent almost 3 years growing it out, even getting bullied and called a girl after it got so long.
WXYZ asked Torrin why he decided to donate his hair and he said: "Because that was the right thing to do."
Just six months after giving his hair to Wigs for Kids, his family received a terrible surprise. Torrin had Stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma - a crushing diagnosis for parents who had, ironically, just watched their own son help other kids battle the very same disease.
Torrin just finished his first round of chemotherapy. He has another round to do at the end of the year.
But the family says they cannot support him -- emotionally or financially -- without the support of the community.
