The entire state of Michigan has changed their food stamp program, causing people to get a job to continue receiving benefits.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services(MDHHS) has enacted its new policy as of October 1 to the entire state that requires people on food assistance to resume working.
In the new policy, people age 18 through 49 that are 'able-bodied' have three months to find a job or they will lose their benefits.
This policy is not completely new to Michigan because they tried it in the past, but it was waived due to high unemployment rates and the struggling economy more than a decade ago.
