It was great to catch up with my childhood friend JBACH on his visit in his hometown. As a fellow Chaldean and Michigan native, I have to support my brother.
Pop music’s next star-child, JBACH stands at the intersection of music and fashion. A Chaldean American, he was born in Detroit to two pharmacists who pushed him to pursue a career in medicine. When he was selected for Team Pharrell on The Voice in 2016, he decided to leave medicine behind and moved across the country to become one of few Chaldeans in his family to pursue a career in art. Since moving to LA, he has been a songwriter on projects that debuted on the iTunes Charts, Billboard.com, and Pop Star Magazine, and has even opened for The Chainsmokers and Daya.
JBACH’s sound is a refreshing take on pop’s dynamic landscape. He embodies the genre’s forward motion, but with respect for classics of the canon. As a songwriter, he draws inspiration from Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and LAUV. His tone and writing style could easily blend with current Top 40, but with a uniqueness that is instantly recognizable and refreshing.
