A Settlement Reached In The Case Of Breonna Taylor

Breaking news today and a portion of progress in the fight for justice for Breonna Taylor

(METRO SOURCE)--According to a report from the Louisville Courier-Journal newspaper, the city's government could announce a "substantial" financial settlement as early as this afternoon for the family of Breonna Taylor. Taylor, a black woman, was shot and killed in her apartment this past March by Louisville Police and her family filed a civil suit against the city. A source wouldn't say how much money the family will receive, but the deal will also likely include policing reforms, such as a requirement that all commanders approve search warrants before they reach a judge. This comes as a grand jury in Jefferson County might look at evidence from a criminal investigation into her death this week. The largest settlement Louisville has paid for police misconduct is eight-point-five-million dollars in 2012.
