Is Instagram Getting Rid of 'Likes'? Sisanie Explains

Is Instagram doing away with “likes”? Possibly! The popular photo sharing app, which is owned by Facebook, announced earlier this week that its experimenting with hiding “likes” for some users in seven test counties including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand.

The goal of the test, as Sisanie explained on-air on Friday, July 19, is to eliminate post anxiety.

“We want … followers to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get,” a spokesperson explained to TIME magazine. The company also tweeted, explaining they’re “looking forward to learning more about how this change might benefit everyone’s experience on Instagram."

“I am down,” Ryan Seacrest shared on-air. “Think how much time we’ll save not looking at the likes? … I think it will start working in some of these places and catch on.”

Watch back the on-air moment above to join the conversation. What do you think? Do you like the idea of getting rid of “likes”?
