Footage of Lady Gaga plummeting 260ft into the NRG Stadium was pre-recorded. Gaga actually started her performance suspended on a safety wire about halfway up, in case you were one of the millions that thought it was live. NOPE.
Gaga's show began with the pre-recorded footage of her singing "God Bless America" and "This Land is Your Land" with the fleet of drones. Then she took a daring leap over the edge, into the stadium. She actually did jump, without a stunt double, it was just done in advance of the show.
The opening of Gaga's show also included a fleet of 300 drones lighting up the sky and transforming into an American flag. It turns out, the drones were controlled by a person using a single computer with technology that Intel says can be used to operate fleets of more than 10,000 drones. Because of FAA and Super Bowl restrictions, and the weather, the drone show was pre-recorded earlier in the week.
