Hugh Hefner’s death certificate says that he ultimately died of cardiac arrest, but he was also battling a few other ailments. The document says that the Playboy founder was suffering from septicemia, a severe inflammation of body tissues triggered by an infection in the blood. He'd also been dealing with an E. coli bacterial infection. Both of those illnesses are listed as contributing factors to his death.
Hefner died last week at the Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones. He was 91.
