New Information About Demi Lovato's Overdose

As of yesterday evening, Demi Lovato was "awake and responsive” after being treated for an overdose.  She is in stable condition.

Demi was rushed to an L.A. hospital yesterday. Initial reports from TMZ said she suffered from a heroin overdose, but sources close to Demi are denying that information. Paramedics found the singer unconscious when they arrived at her Hollywood Hills home. Law enforcement sources said Demi was treated with Narcan, which is an emergency treatment to reverse the effects of opioids.

Demi was out Monday night celebrating a friend's birthday in West Hollywood.

Demi has fought substance abuse for years, at one point she lived in a sober living home after getting released from a treatment center. She had been six years sober from alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin before releasing a song last month called "Sober", where she revealed she had fallen off the wagon.

She was scheduled to go on the road for a show in Atlantic City tomorrow night. That show has been cancelled.

HOW DID THE HEROIN RUMOR START?

Police sources involved in the case reported that it was an apparent heroin overdose.  Lovato refused to tell paramedics what drug caused her to overdose, and law enforcement sources say no drugs were seized.

Law enforcement sources say Lovato was not cooperative when EMTs worked on her at her home. Those sources believed it was a heroin OD based on what they observed at her home, but a source close to Lovato say it was not heroin, though the source refused to divulge what caused the OD.

SO MANY PEOPLE FEARED THIS WOULD HAPPEN

A source who knows about Demi Lovato‘s sobriety issues, spoke out her overdose and said, “This is absolutely what so many people feared would happen. She has not been sober for quite some time but more tragically, has had no interest in being sober.”

The source also said: “The disease Demi has is a vicious liar and it’s been telling her for some time that she can use just a little, just one or two drinks, nothing too serious, nothing bad will happen, she can keep it under control. And when she could, for a few months, it seemed like vindication to her, proof that she could keep it under control.”

But it became “a slippery slope.”

Another source said: “Things have been a total mess for months. She and her team severed ties, and they played a large part in getting her sober years ago. She hasn’t been in a good place.”

We are hearing rumors that she also had a falling out with her sober coach recently, saying he betrayed her in some way.

FOX PULLS DEMI'S EPISODE OF "BEACH SHAZAM" AFTER OVERDOSE

Demi was supposed to be on last night's episode of "Beat Shazam," but FOX replaced it with a different episode.

FOX says, "In light of recent reports, we have decided to replace the episode of BEAT SHAZAM with another all-new episode. Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family."

Demi's guest appearance, with host Jamie Foxx, was taped back in December. Demi promoted the episode to her 56 million followers on Twitter just a few hours before she was rushed to the hospital.
