Earlier this week, one of the main women behind the #MeToo movement, Asia Argento, released a statement saying she did not have sex with former child star Jimmy Bennett back in 2013, when he was 17-years-old.
Problem is, in text messages between Asia and a friend, she straight-up admits to sleeping with him.
A picture was released of the two in a room at the Ritz Carleton in Marina del Rey back in 2013. The two are laying on a bed, topless, with their heads on a pillow and their arms around each other.
It's a crime in California for an adult to have sex with a person under 18, but no word on whether charges will be brought against her.
Jimmy Bennett eventually threatened legal action, so Asia settled with him for $380,000, which allegedly her late boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, paid back in April.
Bennett says he chose to keep the hook-up private because he was afraid and ashamed to have his story heard. In a statement to The New York Time, he says, "I did not initially speak out about my story because I chose to handle it in private with the person who wronged me. My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself. I have not made a public statement in the past days and hours because I was ashamed and afraid to be part of the public narrative. At the time I believed there was still a stigma to being in the situation as a male in our society. I didn't think that people would understand the event that took place from the eyes of a teenage boy. I would like to move past this event in my life, and today I choose to move forward, no longer in silence.”
