President Donald Trump paid tribute to the Clemson football team for winning the College Football Playoff National Championship at a White House ceremony last night.
President Trump personally provided fast food for the Clemson Tigers’ visit. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, “The President wanted to host a fun event to celebrate the College Football National Champion Clemson Tigers. Because the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security, much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed – so the President is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods.”
Trump said earlier in the day, "We went off and we ordered American fast food, paid for by me. Lots of hamburgers, lots of pizza."
Some players "whooped" when they saw the spread.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has nominated this season's undefeated Tigers as the best college team ever. Trump called them a "great team, an unbelievable team."
He said, "What a fun day it's been. It's an honor to be a part of this tradition, and to be honest with you, it's really cool that football can create an opportunity like this."
