"Empire" star Jussie Smollett took to the stage at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Saturday night to talk about his assault and assure fans he's "OK."
It was his first public appearance since Tuesday's attack in Chicago, where he claims two men hurled racist and homophobic slurs at him, then gave him a beating, poured bleach on him and wrapped a rope around his neck.
Still bruised, he told fans from the state that he's still healing: "I'm going to stand strong with y’all.I had to be here tonight. I couldn't let these motherf*****s win."
At the end of the show, Jussie lit up the stage with a call to action about being black, being gay and being proud.
Chicago Police are still investigating the incident, and commend Jussie for being so cooperative.
