Rapper Meek Mill and CNN’s Van Jones are proposing a bill in the state of Pennsylvania that will provide new legislation to reform the state probation and parole system.
The bill aims to prevent the courts from sentencing a person to consecutive probation sentences, prevent the court from extending a person's time on probation or parole due to nonpayment of fines and fees, plus establish a system of incentives that reward good behavior.
Meek Mill spoke at a news conference yesterday about his goals saying that he is now a voice for the voiceless and said, “there's a lot of statutes and laws that don't make sense.”
After being in jail for five months for a probation violation, Meek Mill is now pushing for reforms in the criminal justice system all over the country. He is even helping create REFORM Alliance with Jay-Z.
