Attorneys representing "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed suggested that a disgruntled film crew member may have planted the live round that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins inside a box of prop ammunition to sabotage Alec Baldwin's film.
The gun was left unattended for two hours before the fatal shooting.
Lawyers for the western film’s armorer said the.45 Long Colt, which was not supposed to contain live rounds, could have thus been tampered with before it was handed to actor Alec Baldwin on Oct. 21.
The lawyer said,'I believe that somebody who would do that, would want to sabotage the set, would want to prove a point, want to say they're disgruntled, they're unhappy. And we know that people had already walked off the set the day before.’
The lawyer also said his client was unaware that any live bullets were loaded into the gun.
Hannah Gutierrez Reed has not been charged with any crime.
