Singer R. Kelly’s bid for an appeal could be delayed because the convicted pedophile is sick with COVID-19.
Kelly caught the virus at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn — where he’s been locked up since before his trial last August. He was convicted of sex-trafficking in September.
His new lawyer has requested an additional two weeks to file post-trial motions for an appeal so Kelly can recover from coronavirus and “meaningfully participate” in his own defense.
Kelly was found guilty of running a decades-long sexual abuse operation that targeted women and girls who attended his sold-out concerts, met him in malls or even at a McDonald’s in Chicago.
