Fans of Taylor Swift have begun harassing seniors of NYU and promising to pay them hundreds of dollars for a graduation ticket to see the singer get an honorary doctorate.
Swifties have been messaging students on social media and offering up to $500 to see Swift speak and be honored at Yankee Stadium on May 18th.
Some students aren’t selling their tickets because they are afraid of being disciplined by the university’s ticketing policy. Auctioning off graduation tickets is forbidden and students can face delays in receiving their degrees and diplomas if they do so.
Even though Swift is only speaking at the commencement for 2022 graduates, some students who graduated in 2020 and 2021 are getting messages about buying their tickets as well. Their ceremonies are also taking place next month.
