“Top Gun: Maverick” debuted this Memorial Day weekend with record breaking numbers.
The sequel, which sees Tom Cruise return to the cockpit after 36 years, made $156 million in the first 4 days of release.
Those ticket sales surpassed Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” which launched with $153 million over the long weekend in 2007.
“Top Gun: Maverick” also secured the biggest debut in Cruise’s 40-year career, marking his first movie to surpass $100 million in a single weekend.
