Eight celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan, Ne-Yo, adult film star Kendra Lust, and YouTuber/boxer Jake Paul, have been charged by US regulators with participating in an illegal crypto scheme.
They used their social platforms to boost 2 crypto tokens without disclosing they were paid to promote them. The charges were announced by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Celebs have paid to settle the charges without admitting guilt.
The group is accused of illegally promoting TRX and BTT crypto assets "without disclosing that they were compensated for doing so and the amount of their compensation.”
Lindsay had 8.4 million Twitter followers when she posted a message calling for her followers to invest.She paid $10,000 to the SEC and another $30,000 in penalties.
Logan was ordered to pay more than $100,000.
