TV legend Jerry Springer died yesterday at the age of 79. He'd been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago and died in his home in suburban Chicago. Sources say his cancer and took a turn for the worse this week.

The Jerry Springer Show ran for nearly three decades starting in 1991 and became "TV's most controversial show." Springer also hosted a short-lived Judge Jerry show after Springer went off the air in 2018.

Before TV, he was a politician who ran a failed campaign for U.S. Congress in 1970, got elected to Cincinnati's City Council in 1971, and became the city's mayor in 1977. He served one term.

Jerry's last TV appearance came last season on "The Masked Singer" where he performed as "The Beetle," singing a Frank Sinatra classic.
