Detroit's own Big Sean and Emagine Theatres are joining forces to bring a movie theater to downtown Detroit. Paul Glantz, Founder and Chairman of Emagine, confirmed the plans, and he projects it will open in 2020. “The city of Detroit has reached a point where it’s revival can justify and will be well-suited by a first-class entertainment venue,” he said.
This theatre is going to have something very special in it, with Big Sean being the man behind it. The downtown Detroit theater will have a music venue. “That will be a really fun aspect,” said Glantz. “When you have the privilege of doing a joint venture with a powerhouse entertainer then, of course, you want to play to his strengths.”
"We want to do something revolutionary with it," Big Sean said during the press event. "We don't want to just make it a movie theater, traditionally. We also want it to be a hub for entertainment for the whole community. We want people to have an incentive to go the extra miles, to travel into Detroit."

We are very excited for the team at Emagine Theatres, including our friends Paul Glantz, Anthony Laverde and Melissa Boudreau. This is going to be a great addition to the city!
The question is... where in downtown Detroit do you think this should be built? This is going to be such a big addition to the city of Detroit. Never thought we would have all four major sports teams in the city, let alone a movie theatre. This is AWESOME!
