Mojo went on record to say these pointless Go Fund Me pages are getting ridiculous. The purpose of these are for those truly in need. Not for funny reasons or to buy you a pair of Jordan's. Can we please stop wasting time on GoFundMe?
A recent coworker of ours left our radio station some time ago was recently fired in her new job. She wants her friends to pay for her to go back in college so she made a GoFundMe page to raise money for herself to pay off school. This is not a life and death situation that needs that help.
In other GOOD news, Stacy called up to share info on her GoFundMe page. May 16-18, 2018 marks the 12th annual Van Buren Middle School eighth grade trip to Washington, DC as you see in the above photo. Since September, families have made payments to our tour company. However, on May 4 we learned that Discovery Tours, the travel company we were working with, ceased operations and are canceling all future trips. Only about half of the trip vendors were paid and the company declared bankruptcy. We strongly believe that the Washington, DC trip is an important educational opportunity and is a hallmark of the middle school experience at Van Buren. The Van Buren Board of Education is committed to ensuring that this trip proceed and we’re looking for donors to help us cover the $30,000 of unpaid balances for hotel rooms, meals, and other reservations. Donations of any amount will be appreciated.
