Celebrities typically garner their reputation for characters they play in world-renowned films, or timeless music they create, but we don't hear as much about their pivotal role as godparents to their famous friends' children.

According to E!News, there might be a few A-list godparents that you haven't heard of, simply for the fact that their relationship isn't brought into the spotlight.

For example, did you know that iconic director Tyler Perry is a godfather to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's three-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet? Perry was so honored with the role that it actually took him some time to "reflect on the decision."

"I got off the phone, took it all in and then In called them back. I go, 'Uh, hold on a second. Does this mean we got to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out? ‘Cause I don't want to do that. Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that and if you have to do it there, then that's OK.'"

How about Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin acting as Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson's godfather alongside godmother and film legend Elizabeth Taylor?

In 2024 BBC docu-series Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, Paris speaks about why she believes The King Of Pop carefully chose Taylor as her godmother (per People).

"I think because I was growing up in the spotlight. There's definitely a part of him that knew that we would have a very similar experience. I was homeschooled and because of that, I don't know what it was like to be around other kids my age. Hanging out with adults, all the time. And I think it was just the same for her."

And that's not all!

Taylor Swift is affectionately called "godmother" by all of bestie Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' children (James, Inez, Betty and Olin). Golden State Warrior Stephen and Ayesha Curry are godparents to Lindsay Lohan's son Luai. Kim Kardashian is godmother to sister Khloe Kardashian's daughter True. Jennifer Aniston acts as godmother to co-star and longtime friend Courteney Cox's daughter Coco. And last but never least, Meryl Streep is godmother to late friend Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd!

You didn't think we'd forget about the star-studded, godmother-daughter duo that is Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton, did you? Cyrus continues to speak highly of her bond with the country queen, referring to the star as "like a mother," to her in a 2023 interview with Today.
