On Saturday, March 30th we teamed up with HOPE Against Trafficking, a Southeast Michigan-based organization with the mission to end the pain and suffering associated with human trafficking. HOPE is a 24-month residential program that provides restorative housing and comprehensive services focused on physical, mental, emotional and economic transformation. This dedicated housing and programming is committed to serving adult female survivors of sex and labor trafficking induced by threat, force and/or coercion.
The organization already has two homes to house these women, along with an apartment building that will be home to 16 women in the next month. Our Time Team Detroit volunteers helped remodel a third home, doing tasks like sanding and washing floors, painting rooms, caulking windows, installing fixtures and putting together furniture.
