On Wednesday, the Detroit Police Department reported the loss of one of our men in blue in the line of duty. In a post on Facebook, as you see below, is the announcement of the loss of Officer Rasheen McClain, a 16-year veteran. "A natural leader and a heart," said Detroit Police Chief James Craig.
People who worked with Officer McClain haven't just lost a fellow officer. They have lost someone who brought joy to work as he served the city of Detroit. Co-workers and friends were posting videos on social media trying to make his co-workers smile because that is what he made everyone around him do. "He was a good officer and I am glad he was there to protect us," said Amy Schumont, who says officer McClain is a friend of 20 years.
His partner remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive.
