Rich Homie Quan died of an accidental drug overdose. Quan's girlfriend found him unresponsive inside his Atlanta home. A medical examiner confirmed the "Type of Way" rapper had traces of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine in his system after he was pronounced dead. There were also hints of THC but that did not contribute to his death.

The deceased artist's estate previously released Quan's first posthumous single "Song Cry" a couple of weeks ago. His emotional track arrived on the same day as his funeral in Atlanta. The music video for "Song Cry" served as a recap of the memorial service and celebration. Quan shot scenes for the video prior to his death. He appears throughout the video between tear-jerking scenes of his funeral and burial.
